‘Meeting Kathe Kollwitz’
February 19 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmFREE
To accompany the Kathe Kollwitz exhibition in the Young Gallery, a talk will be given by the Reverend Pat Clegg. She wrote:
‘Meeting Kathe Kollwitz’ reflects how Kathe’s art can be experienced at a profound and personal level: in this first instance I recognised the common humanity in Kathe’s self-portraits only later realising that here was an individual I would liked to have known; the talk will take us on that journey of discovery.’
Reverend Pat Clegg biography: A former speech and language therapist, Pat is now an Anglican priest mainly engaged in guiding retreats and seeing individuals for spiritual accompaniment, with a particular interest in supporting Christian communities in Israel/Palestine. Pat is married, has four children and seven grand-children plus a companionable dog; she has been an interested art viewer throughout her adult life, only relatively recently taking to drawing and painting herself. Pat was introduced to ‘mark making’ as a means of spiritual expression in 2003, soon to be followed by meeting with works by Kathe Kollwitz.
